Software Engineer I

DUTIES

* Work under the guidance of advanced engineering personnel, within product development to develop and support new and legacy products, focusing on derivative designs and sustaining engineering. * Generate required product development documentation. Participate in source code control and software release activities as required. * Communicate project status, issues, and requirements both verbally and in writing. * Implement software in C and C++ under OSE or VxWorks environment and tools on Unix or Windows. * May implement software to support redundant hardware configurations on PowerPC s. * Provide layered OS services compatible with multiple RTOS's. * Find innovative ways to improve quality, timeliness and efficiency of deliverables * Resolve defects and provide regular status updates for defects

Required Skills

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities Minimum

Formal Education: BS Computer Science or equivalent experience

Experience (type & duration): 0-3 years of embedded real-time using C or C++ or equivalent course work

Skills:

* Ability to gain understanding of cable telephony/broadband/video concepts and services as well as the direction in which the industry is moving. * C, C++, under Unix, OSE or VxWorks * Ability to understand how operators use product in the field. * Ability to solve issues by identifying the scope of the problem * Demonstrate effective writing and presentation skills to immediate management; * Ability to prioritize tasks in alignment with company priorities. * Work under direction from immediate supervisor. * Ability to interact with peers, staff, and senior management.
